Troubleshooting and Managing MCS Devices After Leaving the Cath Lab

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify post-cath lab complications: Recognize common complications associated with mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices post-catheterization, such as thrombosis, infection, or device malfunction or migration.
  2. Implement effective protocols for troubleshooting MCS device-related issues, including interpreting telemetry data, assessing alarms, and performing basic troubleshooting maneuvers to ensure device functionality.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to promptly address device complications, educate patients and caregivers on recognizing warning signs, and coordinate multidisciplinary care to enhance patient safety and improve long-term outcomes.
