Learning Objectives:
- Review varying patient characteristics that influence the transseptal puncture, and provide pearls and tips of how to identify them early and alter strategy (kyphosis, prior IVC filter or DVT, morbid obesity, massive RA)
- Give examples of how the location of transseptal puncture is based on LAA anatomy (ie. Anterior appendage, posterior appendage)
- Describe best practices in TS puncture tools, and compare and contrast across characteristics of safety, ease of use, cost (BRK vs Baylis, curled wires v LUPV, transduction of LA pressure and adequate hydration)
