Biographical Sketch: Michael Savage, MD, FSCAI, FACC, FACP, is the Ralph J. Roberts Professor of Cardiology and Director of Interventional Cardiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Savage was instrumental in the creation of the Jefferson Angioplasty Center, a second-opinion center for high-risk patients with complex cardiovascular disease. Dr. Savage's team at Jefferson has pioneered advances in interventional cardiology and was at the forefront of clinical research in the development of coronary stents which have revolutionized the treatment of heart disease. His research continues to focus on improving patient outcomes with less invasive alternatives to heart surgery. He has authored over 300 publications including the book, "Clopidogrel and the Newer P2Y12 Antiplatelet Agents" and serves on several editorial boards including JSCAI. Dr. Savage is the recipient of numerous honors for patient care, research, and teaching.
