Biographical Sketch: Matthew I. Tomey, MD, FACC, FAHA, FSCAI is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Mount Sinai Fuster Heart Hospital in New York, where he serves as a faculty interventional cardiologist and Director of Critical Care Cardiology at Mount Sinai Morningside. Triple-boarded in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and critical care medicine, Dr. Tomey specializes in interventional critical care cardiology. Areas of special interest include cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, hemodynamics, acute coronary syndromes, cardiac arrest, and management of complications and complex disease. A devoted educator, Dr. Tomey directs the cardiology course for medical students at Mount Sinai along with extensive involvement in resident and fellow training. He is an active science volunteer with cardiovascular societies and currently serves as chair of the American Heart Association's Cardiovascular Interventions committee. Dr. Tomey lives in New York with his wife and two sons.
