Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Rajan Patel graduated from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed categorical internal medicine training at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He then completed fellowship training in general cardiology, advanced cardiac imaging (CT/CMR) and interventional cardiology at the University of Virginia followed by an additional year of endovascular training at Ochsner Clinic Foundation. After 16 years at Ochsner Medical Center where he was the program director for the interventional cardiology fellowship as well as the CTO PCI Program Director Dr. Patel joined the faculty at the University of Virginia. Dr. Patel is professor of medicine at UVA where he is director of the cardiac cath labs and section head of interventional cardiology. Clinical and research interests include mechanical circulatory support for the treatment of cardiogenic shock, complex and CTO PCI, advanced imaging for assessment of left ventricular ischemia/ viability/ recovery as well as medical device development and medical education.
