Biographical Sketch: Matt Cavender, MD, MPH is an Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama and a Master’s of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed residency at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, clinical fellowship in cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, and a research and interventional cardiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
He is an interventional cardiologist who specializes in transcatheter therapies for patients with advanced coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease and valvular heart disease.
He has authored numerous works that have been published in journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Circulation and JACC. He currently is an Assistant Editor for Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions and is the Co-Director of Cardiovascular Clinical Trials at the University of North Carolina.
