Fellows Summit Lunch Program: Making the First Move: Match the Right Support for the Right Patient

Sponsored by Getinge.

This educational symposium explores physiology-driven decision making for temporary mechanical circulatory support through real-world cases and practical discussion. Faculty will review what clinical trials do and do not tell us, then apply those insights to patient assessment, initial support choice, reassessment, and escalation across different care settings. The session will highlight how hemodynamics, complication risk, device availability, and institutional capabilities influence decision making at the bedside. Through expert perspectives and interactive discussion, attendees will gain a practical framework for matching the right support strategy to the right patient at the right moment, with attention to the role of IABP in contemporary practice.
