Biographical Sketch: Dr. Bilal Iqbal is an Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria, BC, having trained in both UK and Canada. He served as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals in London, UK prior to his move to Canada in 2015. He holds an academic appointment as Professor of Medical Sciences at the University of Victoria, Canada. He is a high-volume complex PCI operator performing over 180 CTO PCI procedures per year. He is recognized in this field serving as faculty in many large international meetings/conferences and regularly performs broadcasted live cases worldwide. He is one of the highest volume operators globally for using epicardial approaches for retrograde CTO interventions. His research interests include molecular mechanisms of thrombosis, novel PCI/CTO techniques, complex collateral pathways in retrograde CTO procedures, therapeutic graft closure following CTO intervention, rotational atherectomy and the utility of transcoronary pacing in complex PCI.
