Biographical Sketch: Dr. Sharma is an interventional cardiologist based in Calgary, Alberta. His clinical practise focuses on structural heart disease, with advanced training in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and percutaneous mitral valve therapies. Born and raised in Saskatchewan, he moved to Calgary for his subspeciality training, where he developed a particular interest in minimally invasive solutions for valve disease and complex catheter-based procedures.
During his time in Calgary, Dr. Sharma was instrumental in establishing the city's MitraClip program. His leadership in helping launch the program has helped expand local access to transcatheter mitral valve therapies for suitable patients and helped integrate the service into the region's heart team model of care.
