Biographical Sketch:
Dr. James Velianou completed pre-medical studies at the University of Toronto and subsequently graduated from McMaster University Medical School. He went on to train in Internal Medicine at Queens University and McMaster University, Cardiology at McMaster, then Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at McMaster and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Velianou is an Interventional and Structural Cardiologist at Hamilton Health Sciences and Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University. He has served as Medical Director of the Coronary Care Unit, Co-Director of the Catheterization Laboratory, Medical Lead for Structural Interventions at Hamilton Health Sciences, and various Provincial/National Interventional Cardiology executive committees. Dr. Velianou performed his first TAVR in 2008 and has mentored and proctored numerous programs in Canada and Internationally. He has published extensively in TAVR and is faculty of the Benchmark Program of Edwards. Dr. Velianou is privileged to train Interventional Cardiologists and Cardiac Surgeons from around the world.
