Biographical Sketch: Dr. Anwar Tandar is Professor of Medicine (Clinical) in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Medical -Director of the Structural Heart Program. He is an internationally recognized interventional cardiologist specializing in structural heart disease, transcatheter valve therapies, and complex coronary interventions.
Dr. Tandar earned his medical degree as Valedictorian, Summa Cum Laude, from Sriwijaya University and completed advanced cardiology and interventional training at the University of Utah. He has served as Principal Investigator in numerous major clinical trials advancing transcatheter valve and heart failure therapies.
He has authored extensively in leading cardiovascular journals, serves on editorial boards, and is a frequent invited speaker worldwide. His work focuses on innovation, clinical excellence, and improving outcomes in structural and interventional cardiology. In addition to his role as educator, he is also inventor with several patents in his name.
