Biographical Sketch:
Dr Nieman is a Professor of Medicine and of Radiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine, and Chief of Cardiac Imaging in the Division of CV Medicine. He was trained at Radboud University and (MD) and Erasmus University Medical Center (PhD; Cardiology) in the Netherlands. At Erasmus MC (2008-16) he served as director of advanced cardiac imaging research, cardiac CT core laboratory director (Cardialysis), medical co-director of the intensive cardiac care unit. At Stanford (since 2016), Dr Nieman’s research focusses on development, validation and clinical implementation of advanced imaging, in particular cardiac CT in ischemic heart disease. He led several clinical imaging trials (CRESCENT 1 and 2; BEACON; IsoCOR). Current interests include myocardial perfusion, CT-FFR, plaque imaging and computer-augmented image interpretations. Dr Nieman serves as an associate editor for JACC Cardiovascular Imaging and is a past president of the Society of Cardiovascular CT.
