Biographical Sketch: Salil Kumar, MD, Assistant Professor, specializes in advanced heart failure and transplantation and cardio-oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center. He developed and leads the remote pulmonary pressure monitoring program for the department. His clinical interests include amyloidosis, sarcoidosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction, anthracycline-induced cardiomyopathy, and triaging patients for cardiac replacement therapies. His research interests include mesenchymal stem cell therapy for anthracycline-induced cardiomyopathy, AL amyloidosis detection and treatment, and diagnosis and treatment for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
Dr. Kumar received his medical degree at Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his residency at Montefiore Medical Center. He then completed his clinical fellowships in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplantation at Houston Methodist Hospital.
