Biographical Sketch:
Salman Allana, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and serves as Director of Complex Coronary Artery Disease and Chronic Total Occlusion Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX. Dr. Allana earned his medical degree at Aga Khan University in Pakistan. He completed a residency in internal medicine, a fellowship in cardiovascular disease, and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison. He also gained advanced training through a fellowship in complex and high-risk coronary intervention (CTO/CHIP) at the Minneapolis Heart Institute. His clinical and research areas of interest include coronary chronic total occlusions, complex and high risk percutaneous coronary interventions, cardiogenic shock, percutaneous mechanical circulatory support, and coronary physiology and imaging. He has delivered multiple presentations at national and international levels; contributed to several books and published numerous academic peer-reviewed articles related to his areas of expertise.
