Biographical Sketch: Joachim Weil is the Director of the Cardiovascular Center, Sana Hospital in Lübeck, and Professor of Internal Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Lübeck. He received his MD from the University of Freiburg and University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA in 1991. He was trained as a Pharmacologist at the University of Hamburg where he received his degree as Consultant of Pharmacology and Toxicology and an Associate Professor in 1999. Subsequently, he completed his cardiology fellowship at University of Regensburg in 2004. He was on faculty at the University of Lübeck from 2004-2013 as a Professor for Internal Medicine and Cardiology. Dr. Weil chaired the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Sana Clinic from 2013 until today. As a leader in clinical trials of novel therapeutics, Dr. Weil pioneered together with other cardiologist throughout the world the clinical development of renal denervation.
