2023 Scientific Sessions

Advocacy Impacts the Lives of our Patients and our Careers: Engagement is Essential to our Future!

The work of the Government Relations Committee has been described as filled with acronyms, obtuse pronouncements by policy-makers and impenetrable as a CTO. In this session Members of the Committee provide succinct instances of how they found unexpected satisfaction and meaning while participating in their work on behalf of SCAI. Examples will be provided to show how government relations is often more art than science and more Pointillist than Portraiture painting. Guidance on how to connect the dots quickly and get involved (without a huge time commitment) to make a difference is offered. From coding, reimbursement and coverage for interventional cardiology to public health emergencies, the Government Relations Committee is where the promise of physician leadership is be fulfilled by SCAI members.
