The cath lab is a high-risk, fast-paced environment where errors in communication, team resource management, and decision making can have dire consequences. This session will review the latest concepts of leadership and communication in high-risk environments, drawing from lessons in aviation safety, military, and cognitive theory. Attendees will gain techniques to overcome cognitive biases, communication errors, and poor teamwork to provide better patient care and create healthier and supportive workplaces.
