Biographical Sketch: Dr. Džavík is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. In 2000, he joined the Division of Cardiology at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network in Toronto Canada University of Alberta, where he currently serves as Director of Research in Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Dzavik has had an active research career, having authored or co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He was Canadian leader and Executive Committee member of the Occluded Artery Trial (OAT), and was Principal Investigator of TOSCA-2, the NHLBI-funded OAT angiographic ancillary study. He was also Principal Investigator of the international multicentre SHOCK-2 Phase 2 Trial of L-NMMA in cardiogenic shock, and Executive Committee Member and Canadian Country Leader of TRIUMPH, the subsequent phase 3 study. Currently, he is leading ACCESS-1, a Pan-American randomized trial of DK-crush vs provisional stenting in patients undergoing bifurcation PCI.
