Biographical Sketch: Dr. Fischell is Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University and Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program at the Borgess/MSU in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He practices interventional cardiology at the Borgess. Dr. Fischell completed internal medicine residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, and his cardiology fellowship and interventional cardiology fellowship at Stanford University. He is an active inventor, with more than 110 issued U.S. patents. He has served as principal investigator for 5 National Institutes of Health grants, as other research grants. Dr. Fischell has research interests in vascular biology, interventional devices such as stents and renal denervation. He is a serial entrepreneur; a founder of Isostent, Ostial Solutions, Angelmed, Svelte, Ablative Solutions, and currently founder and CEO of CrossLiner. He has received numerous awards, including the Thorax Center Gruntzig Award for Inventor of the Year, the CRT Innovation Award (2015), and is a fellow in the National Academy of Inventors.
