Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Quinn Capers, IV is an interventional cardiologist, medical educator, and professor of medicine whose expertise includes acute coronary syndromes and trans radial cardiac interventions. A graduate of Howard University and Ohio State University College of Medicine, Capers completed his residency and fellowships in cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology at Emory University. After eight years in private practice he transitioned to academic medicine and has held faculty positions at The Ohio State University, the University of Texas Southwestern, and Howard University. A thought leader on issues of diversity in medicine and healthcare disparities, his study on implicit racial bias in medical school admissions is widely quoted. He was an inaugural member of the SCAI Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and the inaugural Chair of the American College of Cardiology’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee. Capers speaks internationally on racism and bias in medicine and continues to practice and teach interventional cardiology.
