Biographical Sketch: Kurt Bjorkman, MD is currently a fellow in pediatric cardiology at the University of Iowa. He previously earned his Medical Doctorate as well as a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition with specializations in Health Promotion as well as Bioethics, Humanities, & Society at Michigan State University. He went on to complete his residency and chief residency in pediatrics at Yale. He has a passion for medical education, and is an ACC Fellow In Training Council member serving as the Iowa chapter Co-Chair for 2020 and the Congenital Heart Disease Representative for 2021. Dr. Bjorkman's current research interests include use of novel devices during interventional cardiac catheterization for congenital heart disease, screening for congenital heart disease with fetal echocardiography and novel techniques in echocardiography for diagnosis of congenital heart disease.
Outside of the hospital he enjoys salmon and trout fishing, and competitive dog sports with his golden retriever.
