Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Alkhouli is an interventional cardiologist with focus on transcatheter structural heart disease interventions at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After graduating from medical school at Damascus University in Syria in 2007, Dr. Alkhouli joined Temple University in Philadelphia to pursue post-graduate training in internal and cardiovascular medicine. He then completed advanced fellowships in coronary, vascular, and structural heart interventions at the University of Rochester, and Mayo Clinic. In 2016, he became the medical director of the structural heart program, and the associate director of the Cardiology fellowship at West Virginia University until he returned to Mayo Clinic as a professor of medicine in July of 2019. Dr. Alkhouli is an author of over 250 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and serves on the editorial board of several leading cardiology journals. His clinical research interests include outcomes and disparity research, cardioembolic stroke prevention, ICE, and valvular heart disease interventions.
