Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Tafur an interventional Cardiologist and is the current Cardiology fellowship program director at Ochsner. His primary professional focus has been on structural interventions and postgraduate medical education. Dr. Tafur is a fellow of SCAI and ACC and has served in the international committee of SCAI and in the education standards committee of the ACC. At Ochsner he has received teacher, mentor and research mentor of the year awards. He has authored multiple manuscripts and book chapters in transcatheter aortic valve replacement and peripheral arterial disease. Dr. Tafur attended medical school at Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, his home town. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas in Houston. He continued to do his fellowship in Cardiology at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, followed by additional training in interventional Cardiology and structural heart disease at Ochsner.
