Biographical Sketch: William F. Penny, MD, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories at the San Diego VA Medical Center.
Dr. Penny received his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his postgraduate training at the University of California, Los Angeles, Center for Health Sciences, where he performed an internship in medicine and a residency in internal medicine. Subsequently, he held fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr Penny has served as his site's principal investigator for many multicenter research trials in interventional cardiology, anti-thrombotic therapy and unstable coronary syndromes. He has authored a variety of original scientific articles, review articles, abstracts, and book chapters.
