Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Helmy currently is a professor and chief of cardiology at Louisiana State University and co-director of the Heart and Vascular Institute at Ochsner-LSU Health Science Center, Shreveport, Louisiana. Dr. Helmy is a 1991 graduate of Cairo University, Egypt. In June 2000, he completed his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. He completed his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at New England Medical Center, Tufts University, Boston, Massachusetts. He has served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia, Professor of Medicine, Director of Interventional Cardiology Fellowship program and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, and then Professor of Cardiology and Director of the J. Gerard Mudd Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri.
