Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Payal Kohli is a noninvasive cardiologist who received her MD from Harvard Medical School, magna cum laude, Internal Medicine training from Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship from UCSF. She is also fellowship trained in Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Clinical Research Fellowship from the TIMI Study Group. She has pioneered the early work with PCSK9 inhibitors in clinical trials, including publication of the LAPLACE Phase II trial. Dr. Kohli has led research on PCSK9 regulation in high-risk populations with chronic inflammatory conditions, such as HIV and Hepatitis C co-infection. She has published in leading journals, including JAMA, Lancet, Circulation, and JACC. She was the Associate Editor of JACC Imaging, the inaugural Media Editor for JACC and is the current section editor of Women and Ischemic Heart Disease for Current Atherosclerosis. In addition, she is the On-Air Medical Expert for the local NBC affiliate in Denver.
