Biographical Sketch: Dr. Kalra completed his Doctor of Medicine training at the University of Calgary in 2008, followed by postgraduate medical training in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto, Adult Cardiology at Dalhousie University in Halifax and Interventional Cardiology at St. Michael’s Hospital (University of Toronto). In 2015, Dr. Kalra moved to Columbia University in New York, where he became one of the first fellows in Complex, High-Risk (and Indicated) Patient (CHIP) interventions. During his CHIP training, Dr. Kalra gained expertise in complex and high-risk coronary interventions, chronic total occlusion PCI, percutaneous hemodynamic support implantation and cardiac critical care.
Currently, Dr. Kalra is an interventional cardiologist and cardiac critical care physician at the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Toronto General Hospital and full-time academic faculty at the University of Toronto. His clinical and research interests include techniques/outcomes of complex and CTO PCI and percutaneous mechanic circulatory support use in cardiogenic shock.
