Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Kern is an interventional Cardiologist at the VA Long Beach, CA, and a Professor of Medicine, at UCI. Medical school and residency were completed at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, NY, NY, and a cardiology fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He continues to perform cardiac catheterization/PCI and contributes to numerous scientific meetings. Dr. Kern is ABIM Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases, and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Kern is a past president of the SCAI a fellow in the ACC, AHA, and a master fellow of the SCAI. Research interests include coronary physiology, imaging, and cardiovascular hemodynamics. He is the clinical editor of The Cath Lab Digest. He has authored several major textbooks, including “Kern's Cardiac Catheterization Handbook, 7th ed.” and “The Interventional Cardiac Cath Handbook, 5th ed”, among the most widely used textbooks in Interventional Cardiology.
