Guidewires Update: Selection and Techniques

Guidewire choice becomes crucial in the setting of chronic total occlusion (CTO) PCI, one of the most challenging lesions subsets in PCI. However, CTO PCI continues to evolve, and important advancements in guidewire and microcatheter design and use have been made in this area. Just as important this field has moved forward due to recent techniques in guidewire manipulation and wire escalation as well as in the management of guidewire-induced complications that can be learned by interventionalists operating on CTOs.
