Biographical Sketch:
Dr Madan completed medical training at McGill University, and the Ottawa Heart Institute. She trained in interventional cardiology and clinical trials at Duke University and the Duke Clinical Research Institute in Durham, NC. She is currently the Cath Lab Director at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre,Toronto, Canada. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Heart and Stroke Foundation Polo Chair in Cardiology (University of Toronto). Her clinical interests include acute MI care, secondary prevention strategies for CAD, and endovascular treatments for PAD. Her research interests have focused on improving the efficacy, and safety of PCI using new pharmacotherapy and devices. Recent projects are studying the inflammatory pathway in ACS. In 2019, she started the Sunnybrook SCAD Clinic, to coordinate care for survivors of acute MI related to spontaneous coronary artery dissection. In 2023, she launched one of the first interventional hypertension programs in Canada offering renal denervation for uncontrolled hypertension.
