Biographical Sketch: Steven R. Messé, MD FAHA FAAN, is an Associate professor of Neurology and director of the vascular neurology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He has received many awards for his teaching including a Penn Pearls teaching award from the Perelman School of Medicine and the Department of Neurology Resident Teaching award. He has served on numerous national committees including the American Heart Association Stroke Oversight Committee and the American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines Steering Committee. He joined the American Academy of Neurology Guideline Development Committee in 2007 and recently served as the vice-chair. He received the American Academy of Neurology Michael S. Pessin Stroke Leadership Award in 2011.
Dr. Messé has specific research interests in acute stroke treatment, PFO-related stroke, and periprocedural stroke and he has participated in and led numerous studies on these topics.
