Biographical Sketch: Professor Zahid Amin, MD, MSCAI is recipient of William B. Strong Chair and Director of Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiac Services at Advent Hospital, Orlando, Florida. He is a renowned interventional and hybrid cardiologist in the field of complex interventions in congenital and Structural heart defects. In 2017, he was awarded the honor of Master Interventionalist by SCAI (MSCAI).
Prof. Amin is a pioneer in developing new innovations in structural heart disease. He pioneered and coined the perventricular technique for ventricular Septal Defect Closure and was the first to implant an experimental valve in a sheep model (2001). He is editor of the book titled "PFO". He continues to do research primarily on reducing risks and complications associated with currently available cardiac devices.
