Biographical Sketch: Howaida El-Said, MD, PhD, FSCAI. I was inspired by my father Dr. Galal El-Said, who always believed in me. I completed my medical school and Pediatric Residency at Cairo University in Egypt, to which I owe everything I have become. I then completed Pediatric Residency and Fellowships in Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Interventional Cardiology, and Imaging at Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor School of Medicine in Houston, Texas where I trained in interventional cardiology with Dr. Charles Mullin's to whom I will always be grateful. I completed my training in 2000 and am Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Disease. I have been at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego since 2007 and am currently a Professor of Clinical Pediatric Cardiology at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, Co-Director of ACHD Program at UCSD’s Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center and, Director of the Catheterization Laboratory at Rady Children’s Hospital.
