Biographical Sketch: Rafael Beyar, M.D., D.Sc. M.P.H. Professor of Medicine and
Biomedical Engineering is the director of Rambam since 2006. He holds an MD from
Tel Aviv University, a D.Sc. from the Technion and an MPH from
the Bloomberg School of Public Health, trained in cardiology at
Johns Hopkins and served as the head of Interventional Cardiology
at Rambam. Beyar served as Dean of the Technion’s Faculty of Medicine (1999–
2005). Beyar research focuses on cardiovascular engineering, development of stents
and Robotic Catheterization. He is author of numerous publications, patents and
books. Beyar has led the hospital
through a massive development plan, building a new campus with a Fortified
Underground Emergency Hospital, a modern Children’s Hospital, an advanced
Oncology Center and an interdisciplinary Heart Hospital. Beyar also founded
Rambam MedTech and MindUp incubator on Digital Health. The
current key project is establishing the health Discovery Tower on the Rambam
Campus.
