Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Prakash Balan earned his medical degree at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He then completed an advanced fellowship in interventional cardiology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Dr. Balan also holds a law degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Board certified in adult comprehensive echocardiography, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology, Dr. Balan’s clinical interests are acute myocardial infarction care, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, complex coronary interventions, hemodynamic support as well as structural heart interventions including transcatheter aortic valve replacement. A Fellow of the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Intervention, he serves as Associate Professor on the faculty of the McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
