Biographical Sketch:
An Egyptian native, trained in general ped cardiology at the University of Miami then Ped and congenital interventional cardiology in the Cleveland Clinic; tenured professor of pediatrics (cardiology) and Director, Ped Cath lab at the University of Mississippi. Recognized nationally and internationally as a pioneer in the field of catheter intervention for complex congenital heart disease; receiving referral and awards from within and outside the United States. Invited to multiple countries to perform and teach catheter interventional procedures. Principal investigator for many devices. The first in his region to perform many cardiac interventions as VSD closure, percutaneous valve placement, use of large stents, covered stents etc. Pioneered cath closure of peri-membranous VSDs; written multiple papers, book chapters, invited reviews in prominent medical journals. presented live interventions before national / international audiences. Has been Invited faculty/ speaker in most prominent national / international cath meetings and reviewer for many prominent journals.
