Biographical Sketch:
Igor F. Palacios, MD, FACC, MSCAI Director of Interventional Cardiology Massachusetts General Hospital Professor of Medicine Harvard Medical School Dr. Igor F. Palacios was born in Caracas, Venezuela. After receiving a medical surgeon degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in 1969, from the Central University of Venezuela, Caracas,he completed his initial training program at the University Hospital in Caracas, before moving to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, USA in 1974. Dr. Palacios is an internationally recognized expert in the field of interventional cardiology and a pioneer in the field of percutaneous interventions for structural heart disease. He has been a mentor and promoter of more than 90 cardiologists who have become leaders of interventional cardiology in the USA and abroad. He has been prolific in publications. He has published extensively, authoring over 400 papers and 30 book chapters.
