Biographical Sketch: Dr. Vetrovec received his BA (Phi Beta Kappa) and MD degrees from the University of Virginia. During a 39-year career as a Virginia Commonwealth University faculty (AOA), Dr. Vetrovec directed the Catheterization Lab (38 years) and was Chair of Cardiology (18-years). As an early adopter of PCI, he attended the second Gruentzig PTCA Course in Zurich, Switzerland (1979). He is past President of the SCAI, a past Trustee of the ACC and past Board member of AHA. He co-chaired the SCAI/ACC Interventional Board Review (first 5-years) and has served on the ABIM Cardiology Committee. He has authored two texts and over 300 manuscripts. He is an MSCAI and MACC. In 2013, he presented the SCAI Founder’s Lecture. Dr. Vetrovec received the VCU Presidential Medallion in 2014. He continues as an Emeritus Professor at VCU with a teaching role as well as a Consultant to industry and the FDA.
