Biographical Sketch: Dr. Brittany Zwischenberger grew up in Galveston, TX. She obtained her BS in Anthropology & Human Biology from Emory University and MD from University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She completed a General surgery residency at University of Kentucky. She then completed a 3-year Cardiothoracic surgery residency at Duke University. She recently joined the faculty at Duke as an adult cardiac surgeon. Clinical interests include coronary artery disease and complex valve disease. She is expanding the robot program at Duke to include robotic-assisted minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB). Academically, she performs cardiovascular research through the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI), including cardiovascular clinical trials and focused clinical outcomes studies using the STS National Database and CTSNet. She is currently obtaining a Master of Health Science degree at Duke. Brittany lives in Durham with her husband, Mark, and two children, Luke (4) and Ellie (1).
