Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Kern is Chief of Medicine, VA Long Beach Heath Care System and staff interventional Cardiologist. He is Professor of Medicine, University California, Irvine. He continues to perform and teach cardiac catheterization and PCI. Dr. Kern is ABIM Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Kern is a past president of the SCAI, and continues to serve many national and international cardiovascular societies. He holds fellowships in the ACC, AHA, and SCAI, which bestowed the designation of Master Fellow in 2014. He teaches for the ACCF/SCAI Interventional Cardiology Board Review among other National Scientific Symposia. Research interests include intravascular physiology and imaging, and evaluation of cardiovascular hemodynamics. He is the clinical editor of The Cath Lab Digest, and author of “The Cardiac Catheterization Handbook, 6th ed.” and its companion “The Interventional Cardiac Cath Handbook, 4th ed”.
