Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Gurumurthy Hiremath, MD, FACC, FSCAI is the director of the pediatric cardiac catheterization laboratories at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. Dr. Hiremath completed a 4th year of Interventional training at University of California, San Francisco where he pursued a study of the effects of relief of unilateral pulmonary artery stenosis on exercise capacity, and late outcomes after ASD device closure in infants under 15kg. His current research efforts include working with local industry to develop new intracardiac devices and clinical research studies aimed to improve patient outcomes in congenital heart disease. He continues a multicenter study on the effects of relieving unilateral branch pulmonary artery stenosis. His clinical efforts center around Interventional Catheterization in children and adults with congenital heart disease, including device closure of intracardiac defects, stent placement to treat stenosis and transcatheter pulmonary valve implantation.
