Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Rajesh V. Swaminathan is an interventional cardiologist at Duke University Medical Center and the Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at the Durham VA Medical Center. He performs PCI via radial and femoral routes, and also specializes in endovascular procedures for the treatment of peripheral vascular disease. His research has focused on optimizing management and evaluating outcomes of acute coronary syndrome patients, particularly in the setting of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction. This includes a focus on stent thrombosis and peri-procedural antiplatelet and antithrombotic strategies. Dr. Swaminathan also has an interest in coronary physiology and is leading a multicenter study evaluating the role of contrast FFR in assessing lesion significance. In addition, Dr. Swaminathan has contributed to early stage implementation and innovation in the field of robotic PCI.
